Physical Education
Moving with Purpose: Mind, Body, and Community
At Leadways School, our Physical Education Program goes beyond traditional sports and games to create a comprehensive approach to physical wellness. We emphasize mindful movement, body awareness, teamwork, and resilience, helping students develop healthy habits and positive relationships with physical activity that will serve them throughout their lives.

Program Philosophy

Our Physical Education Program is built on the belief that understanding how and why we move is just as important as the movement itself. We focus on developing physically literate individuals who have the motivation, confidence, knowledge, and understanding to value and participate in physical activities throughout their lifetime. Through intentional instruction and practice, students learn to appreciate their bodies' capabilities while building the social-emotional skills that contribute to overall wellbeing.

Students build fundamental movement skills through activities that develop:

-
Locomotor skills (running, skipping, jumping, etc.)
-
Non-locomotor skills (bending, stretching, twisting, etc.)
-
Manipulative skills (throwing, catching, striking, etc.)
-
Balance, coordination, and spatial awareness
-
Movement patterns and sequences
-
Application of skills across different physical contexts
