Datathon by WiDS - Women in Data Science Worldwide

What is WiDS Datathon?

The WiDS Datathon is an opportunity to discover and hone data science skills while solving an interesting and critical social impact challenge. Whether you are an aspiring data scientist or a data science enthusiast, WiDS provides a supportive environment for participants to connect, share interests, learn from, help each other, and have a lot of fun!

In 2024, the Datathon focuses on Equity in Healthcare, with sponsor Gilead Sciences providing rich data on metastatic breast cancer treatment, providers, facilities, and patients. Participants will analyze a unique dataset to identify possible inequities in patient care, such as treatment duration and time to adoption of treatment.

Competitions are hosted on Kaggle -  the largest AI & Machine Learning company by Google. T eams are required to have at least 50% women.  Many high school students or even younger have participated in the past Datathons.  Participating in a WiDS Datathon is a fantastic opportunity for students to gain experience, see an application to a real and critical challenge,  greatly enhance data analytic skills, and get to know more about the related fields and college majors.

Jan 9, 2024 - WiDS Datathon opens on Kaggle. 

Jan 27, 2024 - Attend a full day DataHack & Datathon Workshop.

Feb 27, 2024 - Entry and team merger deadline.

Mar 1, 2024 - Final submission deadline and WiDS Datathon closes on Kaggle.

Mar 8, 2024 - Winners announced.

Apr 9, 2024 - WiDS Datathon opens on Kaggle. 

May 30, 2024 - Entry and Team Merger deadline.

Jun 1, 2024 - Final submission deadline and WiDS Datathon closes on Kaggle.

DataHack & Datathon Workshop at Leadways

Hosted by CP Mentorship, 7EDU, and Leadways School, sponsored by WiDS - Women in Data Science, l ed by experts in data science fields, t his one full day event is to provide trainings for the participants of the Datathon.

Food & drinks will be provided. Boys and girls are all welcome.  Parents are welcome to join. Bring your own laptops.
